Lake Malchin is extremely shallow with an average depth of 2 metres. In the middle of the lake there is a sand sill, which is on average just 0.5 m deep. Lake Malchin is located in Mecklenburg Switzerland a few kilometres southwest of Malchin. Lake Malchin is connected to Lake Kummerow to the northeast via the Dahm Canal and the Peene. The shore areas are lined with dense reeds and the villages of Basedow (east), Dahmen (south), Bülow and Bristow (west) are located around Lake Malchin, from where you can take a boat trip to the Baltic Sea: Fishing (without fishing licence) is subject to a fee!
